Now you can read the Treaty in HTML

2:53 am in EAC Updates by Editor

An HTML (web-based) version of the EAC Treaty is the latest addition to the repertoire of web resources available to you off the EAC Web Portal. This feature can be accessed at http://www.eac.int/treaty. The web-based Treaty comes with a host of advantages and below, we highlight some of them;

Search it
The HTML-based Treaty is searchable, so you can now instantly find out what the Treaty says about the environment or civil society by simply typing the relevant keyword. No need to flip through dozens of pages!

Take it everywhere, find it anywhere
The HTML-based Treaty means that anytime you have access to the internet you have access to the Treaty, and that includes on your mobile phone! So you can keep the Treaty in your pocket, or find it at the internet cafe in your neighbourhood.

No need to scroll
On the Treaty homepage, you can quickly navigate to any of the chapters of the Treaty, and to make access easier, each chapter comes with a collapsible menu containing individual articles. You won’t have to scroll through multiple pages of a PDF document anymore.

No software hiccups
You don’t have to worry about downloading the Treaty and finding that the computer you’re using requires a PDF software installation for you to read the Treaty. Web browsers like Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox are standard PC software, so all you need is the internet.

Faster download
HTML-based webpages are lighter than any other format, and that means you don’t have to wait for ages for the PDF version of the Treaty to download. This HTML version of the Treaty has had its pages optimised for faster download.

Download the PDF version
But if you should still fancy a copy of the Treaty that you can read offline, then the link to the PDF version that has been placed on the homepage provides you with a constantly available download link.

An EAC website for Environment and Natural Resources

2:33 am in EAC Updates by Editor

The EAC is pleased to announce the launch of a website for its Environment and Natural Resources office. The website is hosted at http://www.eac.int/environment.  Environment and natural resources are two subjects that continue to assume greater importance in, among others, policy formulation at national, regional and global levels, and rightly so.

These two critical issues cut across sectors, and it is safe to say they touch the lives/livelihood of all in the region. This website therefore facilitates access to information between the EAC and its various stakeholders in as far as the environment and natural resources are concerned, and what the Community is doing to ensure their sustainable utilisation.

It also provides a platform for interaction, for you to talk to the EAC about these important subjects. We hope you find it useful. Your feedback on any aspect of the website is welcome, and we hope to hear from you as your comments help us improve.
