RE: CONTRATULATORY MESSAGE ON BEING RE-ELECTED AS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA
On behalf of the East African Community and on my own behalf, I wish to extend warmest congratulation to you, the Government and the people of the United Republic of Tanzania on your being re-elected for a second term as the President of the United Republic of Tanzania through a landslide victory at the general election held on 28th october, 2020.
The Community is happy to note that the general election had all the hallmarks of a peaceful, transparent and democratic process.
The Community further salutes the people of the United Republic of Tanzania for a peaceful electoral process. The election is therefore not just a plus for the United Republic of Tanzania, but for the democratisation process in the entire EAC region.
It is also evidence of the ongoing entrenchment of democracy and good governance as enshrined in the Treaty for the Establishment of the East African Community and we urge all parties who participated in the election to respect the will of the people of the United Republic of Tanzania and accept the outcome of the election.
Your Excellency, the Community further wishes you even greater success over the next five years on your pet initiatives of fighting corruption, enhancing infrastructure development, boosting economic growth, and promoting education and healthcare for all Tanzanians, among other noble causes.
