RE: CONDOLENCE MESSAGE ON THE DEMISE OF, MR. MOU MOU ATHIAN KUOL, UNDER SECRETARY FOR EAC AFFAIRS
The East African Community is deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Mr. Mou Mou Athian Kuol, the Under Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and EAC Affairs, which occurred on Saturday, 20th February, 2021.
A highly competent technocrat with a big heart, Mou Mou was committed to the cause of regional integration in East Africa and beyond. In the five or so years that he served as the Under Secretary for EAC Affairs in the Republic of South Sudan, Mou Mou handled Community matters with passion and dedication.
Mou Mou had a sense of humour, was open-minded and a consummate negotiator who was always ready to accommodate the views of others. He therefore possessed the ideal qualities by way of leadership and diplomacy that are key to pushing forward the integration process in East Africa.
Prior to being appointed EAC Affairs Under Secretary, Mou was the Director General of the South Sudan EAC Secretariat, the agency that essentially midwifed South Sudan’s smooth entry into the Community.
With the passing on of Mou Mou, the EAC has lost a mentor, adviser and intellectual who provided guidance and advice whenever called upon to do so.
On behalf of the EAC and on my own behalf, I offer my thoughts, prayers and well wishes to you, and through you to: the family, relatives and friends of Mr. Mou Mou; the Government, and; the people of South Sudan.
MAY GOD REST THE SOUL OF MR. MOU MOU IN ETERNAL PEACE!
