Somalia Chief Justice visits East African Court of Justice in Arusha

East African Court of Justice, Arusha, Tanzania, 30th July, 2024: The Chief Justice of the Federal Republic of Somalia (FRS), Hon. Bashe Yusuf Ahmed, visited the East African Court of Justice (EACJ) in Arusha, Tanzania on Tuesday morning in what he described as part of efforts to foster cooperation between FRS and the regional court.

Hon. Ahmed said that Somalia was a nation emerging from decades of conflict and was therefore committed to strengthening her judiciary and aligning it with regional standards.

East African Community hails Rwandan General Election as Peaceful and Credible

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 17th July, 2024: The East African Community (EAC) has described the Rwandan General Election held on 15th July, 2024 as peaceful and generally reflecting the will of the people.

The EAC Election Observation Mission to the Republic of Rwanda further urged all actors and stakeholders in Rwanda’s elections to maintain peace until and after the declaration of results by the National Electoral Commission and embrace peaceful resolution of disputes that may arise from electoral processes.

East African Community dispatches Election Observation Teams to the field in Rwanda

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 12th July, 2024: The East African Community (EAC) has deployed 14 Election Observation Teams to observe the General Election due in the Republic of Rwanda on Monday, 15th July, 2024.

Flagging off the Election Observation Teams from the Head of the Mission headquarters in Kigali this morning, Chief Justice (Emeritus) David K. Maraga, who is also a former Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya, said that the Mission was deploying the observation teams to all the 30 districts in the four (4) provinces and the City of Kigali.
