EACRF Command visit to Kenya and South Sudan Troops in Tongo and Mulimbi in the Nyiragongo territory
The Force Commander (FC) EACRF Maj Gen Aphaxard Kiugu, in the company of Brig Gen Emmanuel Kaputa, Brig Gen Michael Kibuye, Col Jok Akech, & other Staff Officers on 10 August 2023 visited KDF & SSPDF deployed under EACRF in Tongo & Mulimbi, in Rutshuru territory, Eastern DRC.
The FC was received by Maj Athman Mohamed- Officer Commanding Tongo & Captain Felix Muema- 2nd in Command Mulimbi Base both of whom briefed him on the current security situation, achievements registered, challenges & future plans as they focus on EACRF Mandate implementation.
Addressing the troops, the FC commended them for the achievements realized so far & the level of professionalism exhibited during their joint operations. He emphasized the need to ensure Protection of Civilians as a principle factor because of the threat posed by Armed groups.
The FC pointed out the need for continuous alertness, preparedness, & physical & mental well-being as crucial elements for the success of any military. He urged the troops to enhance cohesive interoperability as they execute their tasks,assuring them of his unwavering support.
The FC interacted with the local population and assured them of EACRF’s commitment to support the Govt of DRC towards the restoration of Peace and Stability in N Kivu.
