Clarification on the African Development Bank’s Us$2.5 Billion Funding for Infrastructure Development in Tanzania
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 07th February, 2025: The East African Community hereby issues clarification on the African Development Bank’s US$2.5 billion funding for transport infrastructure development projects in the United Republic of Tanzania.
Contrary to what has been reported by a section of the media, the US$2.5 billion from AfDB is not new funding as portrayed in the media but the bank’s current portfolio for ongoing transport projects including railways, roads and airports.
The US$2.5 billion constitutes 68% of the Bank’s current total investments in Tanzania.
