East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 17th April, 2025: The Federal Republic of Somalia has officially launched its National Monitoring Committee (NMC) on the Elimination of Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs), marking a major milestone in its integration into the East African Community (EAC) Customs Union and Common Market.
The launch took place during a three-day workshop held from 13th to 15th April, 2025 at Afrik Hotel in Mogadishu. The event was jointly organised by the EAC Secretariat and the Government of Somalia.

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 6th April, 2025: The East African Community (EAC), in solidarity with the Government and people of the Republic of Rwanda, will commemorate the 31st Anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi on 7th April, 2025.
This annual commemoration serves as a solemn reminder of the atrocities committed in Rwanda from April to July 1994 and reinforces the collective responsibility of the international community to combat genocide and its ideologies.

The objective of the JSR is to provide state and non-state stakeholders to evaluate their implementation and commitments as outlined in the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) compacts, National Agriculture Investment Plans (NAIPs), Regional Agriculture Investment Plans (RAIPs), and other related cooperation agreements
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 26th March, 2025: After three years of transformative work in strengthening digital skills in the East African Community (EAC), the Digital Skills for an Innovative East African Industry (dSkills@EA) Project is scheduled to come to a close on 31st March, 2025.
The dSkills@EA project, implemented by the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)with support from the Federal German Government, has significantly impacted digital skills development in the region.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 25th March, 2025: The East African Court of Justice (EACJ) and the East African Community (EAC) Secretariat have launched an innovative Data Governance Training Programme for judicial officers, marking a significant step towards enhancing judicial expertise in data governance, privacy and legal adjudication.
The inaugural training session for the programme took place from 11th to 13th March, 2025, in Kigali, Rwanda. The programme is designed to equip judges with the necessary knowledge and skills to interpret and enforce the proposed EAC Data Protection and Privacy Act, ensuring a harmonised regional approach to data governance in the era of emerging technologies.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 25th March, 2025: The East African Community (EAC) has taken a significant step towards revolutionising cross-border payments with the regional validation of the Draft EAC Cross-Border Payment System Masterplan.
This milestone, attained during the EAC Regional Payment Systems Steering Committee meeting held in Mombasa, Kenya from 17th to 21st March, 2025, aims to enhance the speed, security, affordability and integration of payment systems across the region.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 17th March, 2025: The East African Community (EAC), in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU), today launched the EAC4Nature Project, a transformative three-year initiative designed to enhance sustainable natural resource management across the region.
The EAC4Nature Project, titled “Support to Management of Nature-Based Solutions with the East African Community” will run from January 2025 to June 2028 with a total funding of 8 million euros (5.5 million Euros from BMZ and 2. 5 million Euros from the EU).
