East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 11th June, 2024: The new East African Community Secretary General, H.E. Veronica Mueni Nduva has urged the staff of all EAC Organs and Institutions to work as a team and called for collective responsibility as part of efforts to protect and enhance the good image of the Community.
In a well-attended inaugural meeting with the Staff of all the EAC Organs and Institutions at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, and other staff who joined online from the Institutions, the Secretary General underscored the critical role that each staff member plays in achieving the organization’s goals and aspirations.“Unity and collaboration are the cornerstone of our success,” said H.E. Nduva. “As an institution, we must work cohesively, leveraging our diverse skills and experiences to drive the EAC agenda forward. Our collective efforts are crucial in creating a prosperous and integrated East African region,” she added.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 10th June, 2024: A Training of Trainers (TOT) session for System Administrators and Business Development Experts from Partner States' Revenue Authorities has commenced in Mombasa, Kenya as part of the Community’s initiative to enhance regional integration.
The training focuses on the EAC One-Stop Border Post (OSBP) Performance Measurement Tool – EAC OBMP PMT, an online reporting tool developed to assess the performance of OSBPs in the region.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 7th June, 2024: The new East African Community (EAC) Secretary General, Ms. Veronica Mueni Nduva, took the oath of office on Friday evening at State House in Juba, Republic of South Sudan.
Ms. Nduva was sworn in during the 23rd Extra-Ordinary Meeting of the EAC Heads of State that was held virtually and chaired by H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Chairperson of the Summit and President of South Sudan.

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 31st May, 2024: The East African Community Secretariat today received state-of-the-art translation and interpretation equipment from the French Government, facilitated by the French Embassy in Tanzania. This initiative is aimed at enhancing multilingual communication and cooperation within the region.
The EAC Deputy Secretary General in charge Customs, Trade and Monetary Affairs, Hon. Annette Ssemuwemba received the translation and interpretation equipment on behalf of EAC Secretariat. Representing the French Embassy, Mr. Luc Blanco, Head of Cooperation and Cultural Affairs, handed over the equipment on behalf of the French Ambassador.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 31st May, 2024: Tourism practitioners in the region can now enhance their skills and expertise through a comprehensive suite of professional courses following the launch of the EAC Online Tourism Capacity Development Programme.
The courses, developed in collaboration with the European Union and the German Development Cooperation Agency, GIZ, aim to elevate professional standards and skill sets across the region's tourism industry.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 7th May , 2024: The 24th Ordinary Meeting of the EAC Sectoral Council of Ministers of Health held on 3rd May, 2024 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania approved the 6-year EAC Cross-Border Health Advocacy and Communication Strategy (2024-2030) aimed at facilitating faster domestication and implementation of health directives, policies and programmes by enhancing the effectiveness of communication between the EAC Secretariat and Partner States.
The strategy is expected to play a critical role in increasing the level of advocacy and communication, and in promoting visibility and rallying the commitment of policy and decision makers at the Partner States’ level to implement cross border health programmes.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 6th May, 2024: The 27th Ordinary Meeting of the East African Community (EAC) Monetary Affairs Committee (MAC) convened on 3rd May, 2024 in Juba, South Sudan.
The meeting brough together Governors and Senior Officials of the EAC Partner State Central Banks, along with representatives from the EAC Secretariat, against a backdrop of complex global economic dynamics. The meeting deliberated the global economic outlook, as well as the impact of persistent inflationary pressures, climate change ramifications and geopolitical tensions on the region.
East African Court of Justice, Arusha, Tanzania, 3rd May, 2024: The Ford Foundation, East Africa Regional Director, Ms. Jessica Horn, on Friday paid a courtesy call on the Judge President of the East African Court of Justice (EACJ), Justice Nestor Kayobera, at the EACJ offices in Arusha, Tanzania.
In their meeting, the two leaders explored avenues of collaboration and discussed the Foundation's initiatives in bolstering justice, expanding civic space and the rule of law across the region.
