East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 14th May, 2025: The 2nd Edition of the East African Digital Leaders Forum on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) is currently underway at the EAC headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
The forum seeks to to review progress, facilitate joint action and foster cross-border digital infrastructure development in the region.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 14th May, 2025: The 28th Ordinary Meeting of the EAC Monetary Affairs Committee (MAC) approved the EAC Cross-border Payment System Masterplan, a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing financial integration, promoting regional trade and accelerating the region’s journey toward a seamless, efficient, and secure payment ecosystem.
The MAC Meeting, constituted by the Governors of the EAC Partner States’ Central Banks, reviewed progress made in the implementation of the roadmap towards realisation of a single currency by 2031.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 13th May, 2025: The 40th Meeting of the Sectoral Council on Cooperation in Defence Affairs is currently underway at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania. This meeting brings together key defence stakeholders from the eight (8) EAC Partner States to discuss crucial matters related to cooperation in defence across the region.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 12th May, 2025: The EAC has made significant progress toward regional digital transformation with the convening of the Regional E-Commerce Engagement Platform (EEP).
The meeting, held from 8th to 9th May, 2025 in Kampala, Uganda, focused on validating the Action Plan for Harmonisation of E-Transaction Legislations and updating the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Tool that tracks the implementation of the EAC E-Commerce Strategy.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 9th May, 2025: In an effort to strengthening laboratory capacities for pandemic prevention and response, in alignment with the One Health approach across the EAC region, the EAC has today launched Phase III of the Regional Network of Reference Laboratories for Communicable Diseases Project.
The three-year project from July 2025 to July 2028, supported by the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW, the German Development Bank, will specifically address the challenges posed by communicable diseases and enhance the region's readiness to respond effectively to health emergencies.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 7th May, 2025: The 25th Ordinary Meeting of the East African Community (EAC) Sectoral Council of Ministers responsible for Health is currently underway in Arusha, Tanzania.
The five –day meeting kicked off with the Session of Senior Officials which is expected to conclude today 7th May, 2025 while the Session of Permanent/Principal/Under Secretaries or the Coordination Committee has been scheduled for Thursday, 8th May, 2025. The Session of Ministers/Cabinet Secretaries will be held on Friday, 9th May, 2025
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 25 April, 2025: Advancing women’s economic empowerment remains a shared priority for Africa’s Regional Economic Communities (RECs).In a demonstration of this commitment, the East African Community (EAC), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) convened today in Arusha, Tanzania for a two-day coordination meeting on the 50 Million African Women Speak Platform (50MAWSP).
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 22nd April, 2025: The 47th Ordinary Meeting of the East African Community (EAC) Council of Ministers is currently underway via hybrid (physical and virtual) means to discuss a variety of significant issues related to the regional integration process, with a particular focus on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
The Council will also discuss different reports including; the reports of the Office of the Secretary General, Audit Commission on the Audited Financial Statements of the Community for the Financial Year ended 30th June, 2024, and the status of integration of new Partner States into the Community.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 17th April, 2025: The Federal Republic of Somalia has officially launched its National Monitoring Committee (NMC) on the Elimination of Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs), marking a major milestone in its integration into the East African Community (EAC) Customs Union and Common Market.
The launch took place during a three-day workshop held from 13th to 15th April, 2025 at Afrik Hotel in Mogadishu. The event was jointly organised by the EAC Secretariat and the Government of Somalia.

This year's awards build upon the success of the inaugural 2024 edition, which took place in Uganda and drew widespread participation and enthusiasm from across the EAC Partner States.
