1.0 BACKGROUND

The East African Community is in the process of changing its Emblem and the logos of all its Organs and Institutions, and is now looking for a Brand Design Expert and/or Firm to lead the EAC Brand Architecture Strategy implementation. In 2017, a regional youth competition was held for the design of the new EAC visual brand. Six (6) youth, who ranked top from each Partner State, will work with the Brand Design Expert and/or Firm to finalize their designs and submit the same for consideration.

1.1 Objective of the Consultant requisition

The Brand Design Expert will work with the six (6) youth who have been shortlisted by the EAC Secretariat to complete their proposed concepts and submit the revised new brand architecture concepts to the Council of Ministers by April 2020.

The EAC Brand Design Expert is expected to review and guide on best practices in visual brand design for implementing the new EAC Brand Architecture Strategy. The six (6) youth are expected to submit the new visual brand design concepts that conform to the approved EAC brand architecture strategy.

The Brand Design Expert/Firm will lead the EAC Brand Architecture Strategy implementation by working with the six youth to deliver the following:

  1. Redesigned EAC Flag and Logo;
  2. A common unique identifier for all EAC Organs and Institutions;
  3. One primary (main) corporate colour and one secondary colour, and;
  4. A single visual identity for the Community.

The EAC Brand Architecture Strategy proposes several activities that include: redesigning a new EAC Emblem and Logo, developing a common unique identifier for all EAC Organs and Institutions; developing one primary (main) corporate colour and one secondary colour, and; and developing a single visual identity emblem for the Community.

For purposes of clarity, EAC Brand Architecture means the strategic visual symbols of the Community i.e. the EAC Logo and Flag, Corporate Colours, etc. The EAC Brand Architecture Strategy focuses on the following EAC Organs:
