EAC Secretariat to deploy mobile laboratories and testing kits and to all Partner States in a bid to mitigate Coronavirus

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 23^rd March, 2020: The East African Community Secretariat is in the process of deploying mobile laboratories and Coronavirus test kits to all EAC Partner States.

Each Partner State will receive a four-wheel drive vehicle fitted with laboratory and ICT equipment, as well as all the necessary consumables for a fully functional laboratory with the capacity to conduct tests for Ebola and the coronavirus in addition to other pathogens.

…EALA Commission calls off 3-week Plenary meeting in Arusha, over COVID-19 threat

East African Legislative Assembly, Arusha, Tanzania: 17 March, 2020: The 4^th Meeting of the 3^rd Session of the 4^th Assembly which was scheduled to commence tomorrow (March 18^th, 2020), has been called off.

At its 45^th Meeting held on Tuesday 17^th March 2020, the EALA Commission noted with concern that the NOVEL CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19), continues to spread at an alarming level globally, including within the East African Community region.
