The Kenyan and S. Sudan Contingent troops under EACRF on 11 April 23 deployed in Tongo, Rutshuru territory. The deployment followed a successful recce led by KENCON Commander Col Rotich who assured locals of the troops’ collaboration to enhance security in the area
EACRF Commander Maj Gen Jeff Nyagah and MONUSCO Force Commander Lt Gen Otávio Rodrigues met on Tuesday, 4th April 2023 at MONUSCO HQs and explored areas of coordination and collaboration between the two forces.
Additional Burundi troops arrived at Goma Intl Airport on 15th & 16th Mar 23 to join their counterparts already deployed at Sake, Masisi territory. Their further deployment to Kirolirwe & Kitchanga meant to enhance free movement of persons, goods along RP10 30 & protect locals.
The Republic of Burundi deployed its troops to Eastern DRC as part of EACRF on Sunday, 5 Mar 23. The Burundi National Defence Forces troops are to deploy in Sake, Kilolirwe & Kitchanga in North Kivu as approved by the Heads of State mini-summit held in Addis Ababa on 17 Feb 23.
East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) troops on 6th Jan 2023 took over the Rumagambo territory, 42kms North of Goma town, after the withdrawal of M23, an occasion witnessed by a delegation from the Ad Hoc Committee and the Extended Joint Verification Mechanism led by the Dep. Force Commander Brig Gen Emmanuel Kaputa.
The Kenyan Contingent under the EACRF conducted joint assurance patrols with the FARDC in Mudja area, Eastern DRC on Thursday, 8th December 2022 and noted a sign of hope amongst the local population. The troops assured the locals of their protection for their social well-being.
Kenyan troops deployed in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) under EAC Regional Force on 21 November, 2022, conducted joint patrols with their FARDC counterparts in Kibumba area. EACRF called for a holistic approach in realizing peace & stability within the region for socio-economic development.
