The East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) on Monday, 26th June 2023 hosted a delegation from the European Union (EU) at the Headquarters in Goma, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
A joint team from EACRF, Reps from EAC Member States, MONUSCO & the Ad Hoc Verification Mechanism on 22 June 23 conducted a reconnaissance exercise at Rumangabo, Rutshuru territory to assess its suitability as a Pre-Cantonment site for the Armed Groups operating in the region.
The East African Community Regional Force Commander, Maj Gen Aphaxard Kiugu, in the company of Deputy Commanders Brig Gen Emmanuel Kaputa, Brig Gen Ndorarigonya Gregoir & Brig Gen Michael Kibuye visited UGACON bases in Kiwanja,Border Point & Battalion in Bunagana, North Kivu, on 16 June 2023 on command visits.
The Burundi and Kenyan contingents deployed under EACRF facilitated the conduct of a verification exercise within Masisi and Nyiragongo territories by the Joint Bureau comprising the Ad Hoc Verification Mechanism, EJVM, EAC- MVM and EACRF.
The East African Community Regional Force Commander, Maj Gen Aphaxard Kiugu visited Rumangabo & Kibumba FOBs where Kenyan and South Sudan contingents are deployed as part of his command visits to troops in Eastern DRC.
At Rumangabo, FC was received by the Kenyan Contingent Commander Col Daniel Rotich & his South Sudanese counterpart Lt Col Gabriel Bulo, both of whom appraised him on the current security situation, the current deployment posture, ongoing & future operational plans.
EACRF Commander Maj Gen Aphaxard Kiugu on Friday, 19 May 2023 paid a courtesy call to his MONUSCO counterpart Lt Gen Otávio Rodrigues at the Headquarters in Goma as part of his key leadership engagement as well as familiarisation tour with key stakeholders in Eastern DRC.
The East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) Commander Major General Aphaxard Muthuri Kiugu assumed office in Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Thursday, 18th May, 2023. The New Force Commander brought to the Mission wealth of experience in military leadership, command and management in peace support operations having been previously deployed as a Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration and Repatriation Officer while serving with the UN Mission in Eastern DRC from 2003 to 2004.
The East African Community Regional Force Commander Maj Gen Aphaxard Kiugu on Friday, 19 May 2023 paid a courtesy call to the Military Governor of North Kivu Lt Gen Constant Ndima Kongba, at his office in Goma, as part of his familiarisation tour in his new role. The two commanders discussed possible areas of coordination and collaboration within the Joint Operations Area, Key among them is the effort towards achieving the common goal of peace and stability in the region.
Ugandan Contingent troops under the East Africa Community Regional Force (EACRF) on 1st May 2023 deployed in Mabenga, completing the contingent’s deployment in the Joint Operation Area.
