East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 16th December, 2023:The EAC Partner States and the EAC Secretariat have been commended for the commitment towards supporting the development and growth of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector over the past twenty-three years.
Burundi’s Minister of Trade, Transport, Industry and Tourism, Hon. Marie-Chantal Nijimbere, further urged the Partner States to devise mechanisms to support inclusive and sustainable growth of MSMEs in the region.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 15th December, 2023:The Federal Republic of Somalia is inching closer to joining the East African Community with the Horn of Africa nation scheduled to sign a Treaty of Accession with the bloc at State House, Entebbe, Uganda today.
The Treaty of Accession will be signed by Somalia’s President Sheikh Hassan Mohamud and the Chairperson of the Summit of EAC Heads of State, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, who is also the President of the Republic of South Sudan.

This innovative App is set to revolutionise the region’s trading landscape by streamlining the reporting, monitoring, and resolution of impediments traders face as they conduct business across borders.

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 8th December, 2023:The 23rd Edition of the EAC Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Trade Fair, popularly known as the Jua Kali/Nguvu Kazi Exhibition, was officially opened today by the Vice President of the Republic of Burundi, H.E. Prosper Bazombanza.
Vice President Bazombanza said that the trade fair was a testament to the progressive success of economic and commercial integration among the EAC Partner States, emphasising its role in bridging technological gaps among artisans, micro-entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises in the region.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 5th December, 2023: The East African Community (EAC) has the largest share of projects financed by the NEPAD Infrastructure Project Preparation Facility (NEPAD IPPF).
The EAC Secretary General, Hon. (Dr.) Peter Mathuki, attributed this achievement to the comprehensive governance framework for projects management that has been put in place by the Community.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, 30th November, 2023: Preparations for the 23rd Edition of the East African Community (EAC) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Trade Fair, popularly known as the Jua Kali/Nguvu Kazi Exhibition, are in high gear.
The 23rd edition of the annual EAC MSMEs Trade Fair, which will be held under the theme “Connecting East African MSMEs to enhance Intra EAC Trade,” is expected to attract more than 1,000 artisans from all the seven (7) EAC Partner States.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 25th November, 2023:The East African Community has once more expanded its borders and market size with the admission of the Federal Republic of Somalia as the 8th member of the bloc.
The Summit of the East African Community (EAC) Heads of State at their 23rd Ordinary Meeting held in Arusha, Tanzania on Friday, 24th November, 2023 considered the Report of the EAC Council of Ministers on the Negotiations with the Federal Republic of Somalia into the EAC, and resolved to admit Somalia as a full member of the Community.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 24th November, 2023:The Summit of the East African Community (EAC) Heads of State is in agreement that increased investment in climate smart agriculture and renewable energy is the best approach to mitigate the impact of climate change, and improving access to and availability of food for their citizens.
The Heads of State further agreed that there was a need to improve rainwater harvesting to ensure increased availability of water for irrigation agriculture.
East African Legislative Assembly, Arusha, Tanzania, 23rd November, 2023: The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) will hold its Second Meeting of the Second Session of the Fifth Assembly in Kigali, Republic of Rwanda with both Committee and Plenary Sessions taking place at the Parliament of Rwanda.
Article 55 of the Treaty for the Establishment of the EAC provides that, the Meetings of the Assembly be held at such times and places as it may appoint but at least once in every year, in Arusha - Tanzania. EALA is therefore in Kigali, Rwanda in line with the rotational sittings principle of having sittings in the EAC Partner States’ capitals in a bid to bring the Community closer to the people.

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 23rd November, 2023: The East African Community (EAC) and the German Embassy Dar es Salaam, jointly celebrated 25 years of partnership between the EAC and the Federal Republic of Germany today at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
During the occasion, the EAC Secretary General, Hon. (Dr.) Peter Mutuku Mathuki, and the German Ambassador to Tanzania and EAC, H.E. Thomas Terstegen, officially opened a photo exhibition titled “25 Years, 25 Faces, 25 Impacts.”
