Hon. Gideon Gatpan Thoar

Hon. Gideon is a Member of the East African Legislative Assembly, formerly served as State Minister of Information and Communication; and a Commissioner of Mayendit County in the Republic of South Sudan. Hon. Gideon also served in various capacities in the humanitarian sector including Country Director for the Relief Organization for South Sudan based in Nairobi Kenya; a Programme Manager of the Carter Center South Sudan Trachoma Control Programme; and a GIS Database Manager for the United Nations Children Funds. Hon. Gideon holds a Bachelor's Degree in Development Studies from Bugema University in Uganda, a Master's Degree in Governance from Tangaza University in Nairobi, and currently pursuing a PhD in International Relations at the United States International University-Africa specializing in foreign policy and diplomacy. His areas of interest include exile diplomacy, rebellion diplomacy, food diplomacy, parliamentary diplomacy, mediation, humanitarian diplomacy, wartime diplomacy, human rights diplomacy, counter diplomacy, governance, and peace and security.
