Said Mwema, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Tanzania, is renowned for his pivotal role in advancing regional peace and security within East Africa. As IGP, he championed initiatives targeting cross-border crime and collaborated extensively with regional organizations, including the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) and the Eastern African Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation. His efforts significantly enhanced joint operations and security coordination across Partner States, laying a foundation for regional stability.
Mwema’s leadership extended to addressing critical challenges such as drug trafficking, terrorism, and human trafficking.
