East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 2nd September, 2022: The East African Community (EAC) Secretary General, Hon (Dr.) Peter Mathuki, is set to lead a delegation comprising the Heads of EAC Organs and Institutions and eminent regional business leaders, to the bloc’s newest Partner State, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) from 6th September to 9th September, 2022.
The EAC maiden mission to Kinshasa aims at enhancing awareness among DRC government officials on the existing EAC instruments, create trade synergies, explore and build business partnerships and immediate linkages for business associations.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 1st September, 2022: The East African Community (EAC) Secretary General, Hon. (Dr.) Peter Mathuki, Wednesday met EAC Partner States ambassadors based in Paris, France.
The Ambassadors hailed the Secretary General for the various projects being undertaken by the bloc and the successful holding of the Summit in which the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) participated for the first time as a full Partner State.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 11th August, 2022; The EAC Election Observation Mission (EAC-EOM) has expressed satisfaction at the manner in which the voting exercise in the Kenya 2022 General Election was conducted and called on Kenyans to continue maintaining peace after the results of the elections are declared.
Speaking during a press briefing convened to release the preliminary findings of the EAC-EOM in Nairobi, the Head of Mission, H.E. Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, lauded the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for the improvements made in regards to transparency, preparations, and management of the 2022 Kenya General Election.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 6th August, 2022: The East African Community (EAC) has deployed 15 Election Observation Teams to observe Tuesday’s General Election in the Republic of Kenya.
Flagging off the Election Observation Teams from the Head of the EAC-Election Observation Mission headquarters in Nairobi today, H.E. Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, said that the observers had undergone training over the past five days to enable them undertake their responsibilities as International Observers and as EAC Observers.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 10th May, 2022: The East African Community Secretary General, Hon (Dr) Peter Mathuki, has hailed cordial relations between the European Union (EU) and EAC Partner States coupled with strong trade relations since 1975 under the Lomé Convention and the Cotonou Partnership Agreements.
The Secretary General said that the EU for a number of years has been supported the EAC regional integration agenda through the National Indicative Programmes (NIPs), the Regional Indicative Programme (RIP) and implementation of several East Africa Road Network/Transport Corridors, Energy projects, migration programmes and frameworks for democratic governance among other programmes.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 9thFebruary, 2022: The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has inched closer to becoming a member of the East African Community (EAC) following a recommendation by the EAC Council of Ministers to the Summit of EAC Heads of State for the Central African country to be admitted into the bloc.
The Council’s recommendation to the Summit follows negotiations held between a team of experts from the EAC and the DRC from 15th to 24th January, 2022 in Nairobi, Kenya.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 17th January, 2022: The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has reaffirmed her willingness to join the East African Community.
DRC’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Christophe Lutundula Apala Pen’Apala, said that DRC was looking forward to increased trade and investment, and strengthened relations with EAC, adding that her relations with EAC Partner States had largely been at a bilateral level.
Hon. Pen’Apala said that DRC was keen on cooperating with the EAC for maximum exploitation of both natural and human resources in the region.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 5th November, 2021: Ambassadors from EAC Partner States in Washington DC, USA, have committed to collaboratively cultivate cultural diplomacy to promote investment in the EAC bloc.
The resolution was made during a consultative virtual meeting with the EAC Secretary General Hon. (Dr.) Peter Mathuki, which discussed areas of collaboration in strengthening the regional integration agenda.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 30th October, 2021: The Peoples’ Republic of China has reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the East African Community (EAC) achieve regional integration by promoting its development projects.
The Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania and EAC, H.E. Chen Mingjian, made the commitment while presenting her letter of credence to the EAC Secretary General, Hon. Dr. Peter Mathuki, at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania on Friday.
East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 18th October, 2021: Italy´s Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania and the East African Community, H.E. Marco Lombardi, today presented his credentials to the EAC Secretary General, Hon. (Dr.) Peter Mathuki.
Amb. Lombardi said that it was important for Italy to invest more in Africa, which has an ever-expanding market.
