New Pakistani envoy accredited to the EAC

East African Community Secretariat, Arusha, Tanzania, 09th February, 2021: The High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the United Republic of Tanzania, Amb. Muhammad Saleem, has today been accredited as the country’s representative to the East African Community. 

The High Commissioner presented his letter of credence to EAC Secretary General, Amb. Liberat Mfumukeko, at the EAC headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.

EAC receives credentials from British and Swiss Ambassadors

East African Community , Arusha , Tanzania, 10 th November, 2020:The East African Community Secretary General, Amb. Liberat Mfumukeko today received credentials from H.E David Concar, British High Commissioner to the United Republic of Tanzania, and H.E Didier Chassot, Swiss Ambassador to United Republic of Tanzania.

Speaking with the British High Commissioner, Amb.  Mfumukeko hailed the strong relations existing between the EAC and Britain and commended the British government for its dedicated support to the EAC integration process.

Nigerian High Commissioner bids farewell to the EAC Secretary General

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 10th September, 2020: The outgoing Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Republic of Tanzania, His Excellency, Dr Sahabi Isa Gada on Wednesday 9th September, 2020, paid a courtesy farewell visit on the Secretary General of the East African Community, Amb. Liberat Mfumukeko, at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.H.E Gada will be returning to Nigeria after three years’ tour of duty in Tanzania and East African Community. 

Addressing the Secretary General, Amb Gada said he was proud to see the positive developments taking place in the regional integration agenda. He lauded the progress registered by the Community since its revival, saying it was an inspiration for the other Regional Economic Communities on the African continent.

EAC mulls adopting French as an official language of the Community

…..as EAC and Government of the French Republic sign MoU

East African Community Secretariat, Arusha, Tanzania, 13th March, 2020: French could in the near future become an official language of the East African Community in addition to English.

This became apparent after the French government agreed to assist the EAC in conducting a study on the modalities to include French as an official language of the Community.

Personal Representative of the German Chancellor for Africa visits EAC

East African Community Secretariat, Arusha, Tanzania, 28th February, 2020: The Personal Representative of the German Chancellor for Africa, Mr. Guenter Nooke who was on a working visit to Tanzania, today held bilateral talks with EAC Secretary General Amb. Liberat Mfumukeko at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha.

The two leaders discussed development cooperation between the Federal Republic of Germany and the EAC on matters relating to regional economic integration, with particular focus on Health and Agriculture, as well as Customs and Trade sectors.

The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Tanzania, Mrs Regine Hess presents her credentials to the Secretary General of the EAC Secretariat, Amb. Libérat Mfumukeko

New German Ambassador presents credentials to EAC Secretary General

East African Community Secretariat; Arusha, Tanzania; 19th February, 2020 The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Tanzania, Mrs Regine Hess, today presented her letter of credence to the Secretary General of the EAC Secretariat, Amb. Libérat Mfumukeko, to be accredited as the new German Ambassador to the EAC.

Mrs Hess had previously held diplomatic positions in the EAC Partner States of Uganda and Kenya and was accredited to the United Republic of Tanzania on 14th January, 2020. She is the first female German Ambassador to be accredited to the EAC.

EAC Secretary General receives credentials from Finnish Ambassador

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 3th December, 2019: The East African Community Secretary-General, Amb, Liberat Mfumukeko yesterday received credentials from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E Riitta SWAN, to also serve as Ambassador to the East African Community.

Speaking at the function, Amb. SWAN said that her appointment was out of her government’s commitment to deepen its cooperation with the EAC, noting the significance of regional integration not only for East Africans, but as an important source of growth for the continent as well.

EAC Secretary General Amb. Liberat Mfumukeko receives credentials from the new Danish Ambassador, Ms. Mette Norgaard Dissing-Spandet, at the EAC Headquarters. The two later held talks on bilateral cooperation between Denmark and the EAC.

New Danish Ambassador accredited to EAC

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 22nd November, 2019: Denmark’s new Ambassador to Tanzania and the East African Community, Ms. Mette Norgaard Dissing-Spandet, presented her credentials to EAC Secretary General Amb. Libérat Mfumukeko at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.

Amb. Dissing-Spandet informed the Secretary General that the concept of regional integration was dear to Denmark as country despite the challenges facing integration and multilateral cooperation at the moment all over the world.

US Envoy pays courtesy call on EAC Secretary General

East African Community Headquarters, Arusha, Tanzania, 9th October, 2019: The Charge d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Inmi K. Patterson, today paid a courtesy call on the EAC Secretary General, Amb. Liberat Mfumukeko, at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania. 

The Secretary General briefed Dr. Patterson on the status of the integration process within the Community including the various projects that were being implemented in the region.
